How to verify Paypal account with BDO debit card

Tuesday, May 25, 2010 , Posted by Shan Serilo at 1:58 PM

Share For months, I have searched on how to verify a Paypal account the easiest way. It is specifically important to a blogger or a blog owner that his account should be verified if he want to earn through it, and well, it's one way of receiving and paying your transactions online.

Well then, last week my verification was successful using a BDO debit card, even though it was long enough to get me worried about my bank account, still the long wait is really worth it.

I would like to share this tutorial to you guys out there who want to verify their BDO debit card account on Paypal. Now let's settle things how it is done shall we? =)

We are assuming now that you have your very own unverified account on paypal, and you want to verify it using only the single BDO debit card that you now have. If you haven't registered on Paypal yet, follow my other tutorial here.

Here's the steps:
  1. First you need to enroll in BDO's Retail Internet Banking before attempting to link your BDO atm/debit card. This is a must and you need to do this before you can get verified.  Usually it takes seven working days to be approved after you have submitted your enrollment form. How to enroll? Let's reserve that on another post shall we and it will be HERE.
  2. After you have enrolled and have been approved by BDO, login into your Paypal account and click on the link where you could be verified. You will be asked to input your card details. Once that's done Paypal will deduct $1.95 on your bank account. Don't worry as it will be refunded once Paypal have verified your account. Then it will be requiring a 4-digit pin code which will be reflected on your transaction details on BDO. This is the reason why it is very important that you enroll first on Retail Internet Banking on BDO. Wait at least 2-3 days for this transaction.
  3. Login to your Internet Banking account at BDO and click on "My Portfolio" then "My Transactions" and set the preset date to "Last 7 days". Look for the transaction that has this characters: POS W/D SV PP (1234 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx). This is the transaction code that have been sent by Paypal. The 4-digit pin code is the first four numbers after "PP" which is "1234" in our example.
  4. Enter the four digit pin code and then... Congratulations!! Your Paypal account has been now verified. The $1.95 will now be refunded and let's celebrate shall we? =)

Getting verified is a MUST, if you want to receive your payments through Paypal, as it will lift your withdrawal and sending limits. Now you could withdraw and send unlimited amounts using your Paypal, unless of course the only limit left would be on how many digits left on your Paypal and bank accounts. And that's it enjoy! On the next post I will be discussing my withdrawal experience on Paypal here http://chaptersixonline.blogspot.com/2010/05/my-withdrawal-experience-with-paypal.html

hi. i have problem like this with my pay pal account. I have followed your instruction of how to enroll at BDO retail banking. but i don't what they mean when the asked the phone banking/call center 10 digit number and telephone PIN 6 digit. please... this is mind bugling for me. cant continue my enrollment here.
    please. reply.
    thanks

  1. Shan Serilo says:

Hi there you should be providing those numbers. It's like the password. I mean it's like the atm pin, that should only be known to you. So when you use their services for the call center...they will ask your 10 digit number, and same with the telephone pin for verification if it is really you =) hope this helps =)

  1. Michael says:

Hi Sir, my only question is why do we need to wait 2-3 days before checking the Transaction made by Paypal? Does it not reflect immeadiately?

  1. Shan Serilo says:

    Hi Micheal.

Nope it does not reflect immediately because there's a gap of days on processing, by BDO itself. In short before you could check the transaction, BDO will first process the transaction for 2-3 days. Why 2-3 days? Well I don't know, it depends maybe on the availability or number of accounts they are currently processing. Hope this helps =)

  1. Rocks says:

hi! would you know what to do if we input the card details first at the verification before enrolling the bdo debit card to BDO's Retail Internet Banking? Paypal already deducted the amount but no transaction is reflected because we did not enrolled it first. How do we go through this? please help. we tried inquiring to BDO staff but they are clueless as well. Thanks!!

  1. hello there! my BDO debit card account is already enrolled for internet banking since May 2010. I tried verifying my account using the BDO debit card details printed on the card itself, but when I click CONTINUE, Paypal prompts

"We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address."

I was wondering how you were able to use your BDO debit card in the verification process?

  1. Shan Serilo says:

    @Rocks

I don't know ... at the tutorial I clearly stated that you need to enroll first ^_^ ... there is no deduction because there is no enrollment ... so nothing happens. Enroll it first then verify it ^_^

    @A Mompreneur's Life

"We were unable to verify this credit card. Please check if the information you entered is correct. Please also make sure your credit card billing address matches your PayPal street address."

as it states ... it's "credit" card ... we are enrolling a "debit" card which is the atm card of BDO ... so you need to click on paypal the option to verify "debit cards"

    hope this helps ^_^

  1. Michelle says:

To everyone, i am suggesting you get verified in paypal using the Unionbank EON card. unionbank and Paypal have a partnership that does not exist with BDO.

Also, getting an EON card is very cheap. Only Php350 for the card, then a little deposit (at least Php500) to cover for Paypal's fee during the verification process. Very simple.

I have opened a BDO atm debit card for paypal verification. Many months have passed and still Paypal won't accept my BDO atm debit card for verification. I hav asked the BDO bank people about my problem, but they are CLUELESS regarding Paypal, WALANG ALAM TALAGA. BDO really dont have any agreement with Paypal, unlike Unionbank. If you visit UNIONBANK online, they have a step-by-step instruction on how to use your EON card to get verified with Paypal. They even have a video to guide you thoroughly through each steps.

Visit the unionbank online website at: http://www.unionbankph.com

    Best wishes to all!

    Michelle

    Hi everyone! I'm Ems..
I also had the same problem, still unverified in Paypal by using my BDO Debit Card. Now I'm worried because of what I have read in blogs/forums that they will deduct an amount from your BDO account but you're still unverified. That is soooo unfair!
And not to add that even the BDO employees doesn't know how to help you out.

    I just hope I won't get a deduction..

as he have said...in the number one step..you need to be enrolled into

    BDO's Retail Internet Banking

    before doing anything else...

so you need to inquire to your branch about that.

    Hope that I helped

  1. my problem is that i accepted the paymentin paypal and input my bank details without enrolling first in bdo internet banking. according to bdo it shouldn't have a problem. when i inquired yesterday if my enrollment has already been accepted i asked the customer service how then could i withdraw my money. sadly, bdo has no idea. they said that bdo doesn't accept paypal. how come when i searched the net many people have attested that they're able to withdraw their money thru bdo and bdo is saying otherwise.

  1. Anonymous says:

enroll ka muna dun mikel.. https://www.mybdo.com.ph.. wait for 7days for BDO to approve your application for internet banking before attempting to verify your account. otherwise you will get the same error message from paypal as everybody else. dun mo kasi kukuhanin yung verification code na hihingin na paypal sa verification process. follow the steps in the article and you'll be fine. basta BDO ATM/Debit Card at hindi BDO Cash Card ang gamit mo it will work.

question: how much do you have to pay to open a BDO ATM/Debit Card?

  1. We have to not pay more for the BDO ATM/Debit card. Debit are is very helpful when we need urgent money. You post very useful information about the usage of debit card.

  1. Anonymous says:

    Hi, I'm also having problems using BDO visa debit card. Tried verifying, but keep getting this Message;

"This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card."

I tried asking (e-mail) BDO customer service, but have yet to get a reply. I also tried asking the BDO branch where I bank But they say they don't know if i can use their debit cards online or with paypal. If I was working in a bank I would try to figure out how the banks products worked, even if it's just for the sake of knowing.

I have been banking with BDO for almost 10 years and have been comfortable with them, but I'm starting to think that Union bank is the better option.

    Hi,

Did you have a problem adding your debit card? I had my online banking activated way before I signed up with paypal. I followed instructions thoroughly but problem is, it would give me an error that it seems like card is invalid. I'm already looking at my card number and 3-digit verification code. It would say something about checking the billing address. I had tried the three addresses I have. Company and home address and that address showing on my account information on my online banking account. What more do they need? Information is correct but when I tried to contact them through email, it would ask for last 4 of card number and when I type mine in, it would say invalid. Of course, since it still isn't registered. IS there anything I could do with this?

Paypal doesn't recognize BDO Debit Card (MasterCard).
Make sure you have the VISA logo not the Master Card one.
